When a photographer from Barcelona contacts you for a photoshoot, you go mmmmm yes please.  I was really excited to work with Dolores who flew in from Spain to work with Australian designers on some fashion shoots.  It was a previlege as this shoot was all about Redki Jewellery.  How cool is that?  Dolores selected a gorgeous model from Dalys Models and we spent the date shooting and it was fun as the theme was all about my jewellery and it was to be over the top with jewellery and yes I met the brief with layers and layers of jewellery.  Excess of rings, every finger had a fabulous ring on her fingers, statement rings galore, another shot was about structure of the necklaces, with and without a bra, another cool ring shot and then my favourite was layering and layering and layering jewellery.  It took about 45mins to attach all the jewellery together on our model, Sophia was ever so patient while I assembled the armour of jewels on her.

The photos were epic and such a pleasure to shoot and proudly we landed the cover of ‘Alpha Fashion Magazine’.  Really excited about that one.

All my jewellery is handmade and created by me in my Brisbane Studio using swarovski crystals  and metals, I solder and hammer metal, I have lots of fun creating these pieces.  I love creating statement pieces that you will love to wear, others will admire and it is contemporary and will last through the years to be worn again and again.

“This blog is sharing our gorgeous photo shoot where the feel of the shoot was so important to us; we wanted to have a traditional feel by including this beautiful church as a backdrop.”
Showcasing various ways you can change the look of a gown just by changing your jewellery and hair accessories.
    Michelle – Redki Couture Jewellery

Featured in ‘To The Aisle’ – one of Australia’s most beautiful Bridal Blogs

This Bridal inspiration shoot set in a Garden church is the perfect way to farewell Winter! With it’s earthy elegance and talent, showcase of fabulous Brisbane Wedding vendors.  Enjoy the scenery from the beautiful outdoor church setting, dreamy gowns by Goddess by Nature on the beautiful model Kyali and flashes of Redki Couture Bridal’s handcrafted jewellery & hairpieces.
Featuring our handmade bridal jewellery, we wanted to show Brides-to-be how one gown can transform with the change of bridal earrings and a bridal bracelet.  You may like gold bridal earrings or prefer silver bridal earrings, entirely up to you and your personal style

➳ What was the inspiration behind this shoot?  To share our beautiful model Bride in this gorgeous environment, showcasing various ways to accessorise stunning gowns with handcrafted glistening jewellery and hairpieces; and beautiful fresh floral bouquets.   One gown’s look can change with different accessories and changing a bouquet or change of lipstick & hairstyle, although changing the bridal hairpiece can make a difference to the look and hairstyle as well.  We wanted to show brides how to achieve different looks with handmade bridal hairpieces and handmade wedding jewellery and create the wedding look of their dreams.

Did you face any challenges on the day? Our beautiful model definitely was challenged with the cold for being winter, although a little sun exposure helped wonderfully.  Kyali did an amazing job making herself look like a natural and warm bride in the cool winter afternoon.

➳ What led you to decide on this venue?  The feel of the shoot was important to us as we wanted to have a traditional feel to the photos with a beautiful church as a backdrop.  The beautiful architecture of this church and Bishop’s House, built in the late 1800’s, provided an elegant charming backdrop for our exquisite Bride.

➳ What was your favourite detail about the shoot day? “Definitely the intricate flower bouquets! They were so beautiful and we were all lucky enough to keep a bouquet each at the end of the day!” Kyali (Model)

“Even though I had not met or worked with any of the other team members prior to this shoot, it really felt as if we had worked together many times before. The ease, synchronicity and style of each members’ contribution was effortlessly beautiful and complementary” Holly (The Bloom Closet)

➳ Favourite moments from the day: “As this was my first Bridal shoot I got a taste of something new and I’m excited to do more in this field – the entire day was magical. ” Kyali – Model

“Seeing the gown changes, jewellery selections and bouquet interchanges for each individual look was exciting each time. To shoot in such a heritage environment was quite moving, and truly breathtaking.” Holly (The Bloom Closet)

It was fantastic to all unite with warmth & sincerity to have a wonderful day together creating this styled loveliness to inspire Brides – Michelle Redki Couture Jewellery

We have been looking after Brides and designing Bridal jewellery for our gorgeous ladies for over 12 years throughout Australia.  Designing and handcrafting bridal jewellery and bridal hairpieces for brides that want to create their dream wedding, it is your story so wear it your way.

“I love making jewellery that surprises people at the quality of my jewellery; and that it is actually handcrafted by me. I just love it as it is the biggest compliment.” Michelle – Redki Couture Jewellery

➳ Take us back to the beginning of it all for you – How and when was ‘Redki -Couture Jewellery’ born?

I am so grateful to share my story with you and I am so very proud of my fabulous business ‘Redki – Couture Jewellery’ and how I am a self-taught jeweller with more than a decade of experience. My passion for making beautiful unique jewellery started in 2006, as I was so disappointed with what was around. It was all the same from store to store and I decided to start making jewellery for to reflect my personality – I am unique and I wanted to reflect this in my style.

I discovered Swarovski Crystals and I was in heaven. I was so inspired by the quality, beauty and like a bower bird the sparkle was truly stunning. My brain just wouldn’t stop creating jewellery ideas.

I found when wearing my jewellery others loved them also as the designs were different and they wanted unique pieces as well. Women started buying and commissioning me to make fabulous jewellery for them and so I started Redki – Couture Jewellery.

My Mum was always catching me playing with her jewellery and shoes as a child; I have always loved fashion and accessorising. I am truly a creative person and have been all my life. Jewellery has always been a part of my life and I never feel an outfit is complete without wearing gorgeous jewellery as it makes me feel fabulous and empowered.

I am often asked where the name ‘Redki’ came from and it was from my two beautiful fur babies Red and Kiki who sadly are no longer with me. Redki was named with these beautiful fur babies in mind, and their memory lives on through my brand

➳ What can Redki – Couture Jewellery’ offer a Bride-to-be for their Wedding day?

Quality jewellery! Be it from my handcrafted ready to wear selection online or you can have custom-made bridal jewellery and hairpieces created just for you. Either way, it is the perfect way to wear your personality, showcasing your individuality effortlessly and stylishly.

Redki – Couture Jewellery has jewellery to suit all brides from petite delicate jewellery to contemporary pieces and statement jewellery for the more daring brides.

This is your day my lovely and I proudly turn your idea, your dream into reality, creating the perfect necklace, bracelet earrings or headpiece to complete the look you’re trying to achieve on your wedding day.

This will be something you will wear with pride and elegance, as you are part of the design process and you will wear it confidently’ a reflection of your true self and inner beauty.

It is my privilege to be a part of a brides’ journey and you are part of the design process. Creating beautiful, quality unique pieces that become an heirloom for your family. Jewellery that is long lasting and so stunning that you can pass them onto your children and grandchildren, to wear and to be proud to say “Grandma wore this on her wedding day and it is beautiful”.

As I hand solder metal jewellery, saw, hammer, sand and shape as required, being handcrafted enables me to be even more creative for my brides to make jewellery and hairpieces that are unique and not flooding the stores. I help you bring your vision to life to wear on your wedding day, so you know everything is perfect.

➳ Did you always know that you wanted to design Bridal accessories?

Oh yes, as I just love the elegance of the bridal world. I love my marriage and love hearing how couples meet and their beautiful story. I just adore being part of a bride’s journey up to her walking down the aisle and everyone turning in admiration at how beautiful she looks.

My very first bridal jewellery was for a girlfriend who was marrying her love. Her daughter was the bridesmaid and they wanted truly unique jewellery and couldn’t find it anywhere. That is where I came in and created beautiful Swarovski Crystal jewellery for the Bride and Bridesmaid. It is fabulous as they both wear their jewellery beyond the wedding.

Helping brides gives me so much pleasure as I am able to take the stress away for them in creating exactly what they are wanting in their jewellery and hairpieces. Saves them going shop-to-shop or online and not being able to find their perfect pieces, saves time, saves stress and they can concentrate on other areas of their wedding.

I am a very passionate creative person, I love what I do and I feel privileged and honoured beyond words to be part of a brides wedding day.

➳ What keeps you inspired along the way?

Women inspire me. I adore helping brides to have their dream wedding. I just love hearing a bride-to-be’s wedding dream and desires. To hear the stories of how the couple met and what their future holds.

Helping my bride to have those beautiful pieces of jewellery and hairpiece is so special. Designing together her jewellery and hairpiece for herself and her bridal party so that it all coordinates and the whole look compliments each other. Most of my brides are distance brides and we communicate over messenger, email or phone, it just depends on where they are in the world.

I love hearing feedback when a bride receives her jewellery. To hear her gushing with excitement over the jewellery and saying it is better than expected makes my heart swell with pride. As I have crafted them better than her expectations and I have been a part of her wedding day and helping her to achieve her dream wedding.

Jewellery is personal, it is very intimate for a woman and it should be made for her, it should be what she wants, her vision and made with love. I am inspired by everyday life, when meeting a woman and transforming her vision into her signature style.

➳ Do you have any stories that you would like to share from your experiences?

I have had the greatest honour of recreating bridal headpieces and jewellery to honour Mothers and Grandmother and shed a tear on the phone with my brides. Where a bride would like a special piece of jewellery recreated, sometimes exactly the same and sometimes with the bride’s inspiration added into the piece. When a bride tags ‘Redki – Couture Jewellery’ or gives me a review it is the biggest compliment to receive xo.

Bianca wanted to honour her Mum and I recreated a modern take on a circlet tiara in beautiful Swarovski crystals and pearls. I was emailed a photo from the 70’s of Bianca’s Mum as a bride and after a discussion I understood what Bianca wanted and created her gorgeous tiara with matching jewellery for her and her bridesmaids.

Bianca’s kind words “I asked Michelle to recreate a very special piece headpiece that my mother wore on her wedding day, for me to wear on my day. Not only did she make me the most beautiful headpieces I have ever seen…it was perfect in every way.
Michelle has the most incredible way of creating jewellery that speaks a thousand words and leaves you speechless at the sight of them. I will never forget the time, effort and love that Michelle put into making my headpiece. She not only created my headpiece, she created matching earrings and bracelet for me and created beautiful hair combs and jewellery for my bridesmaids that complimented my jewellery perfectly.
Thank you once again for everything you did Michelle”

Another bride Ruth, who my heart went out to as her Mum had passed and she wanted to honour her Mum and have in a special way have her memory at her wedding in a special way. Ruth sent her Mums original headpiece that she wore to her wedding and wanted me to replicate it exactly, changing to white satin as the original was frail and couldn’t be worn.

Ruth kindly wrote “My wedding headpiece was created from a replica of my mums, Michelle did a wonderful job of matching it 100% perfectly, I will always treasure it, thank you”

Jemanda was just adorable and so much fun. Jemanda wanted the Kim Kardashian circlet tiara without having to pay the $2m price tag yet wanted it to be as sparkling and beautiful. I recreated it with a difference by adding Jemanda’s personality to it – it was perfect.

Jemanda wrote “Michelle made the most beautiful custom jewellery piece for my wedding, it was stunning. Thank you again Michelle”

➳ What advice would you offer a Bride just starting out on their search for the perfect Wedding accessories?

Have photos of your gorgeous gown and your bridesmaid’s gown, hairstyles and the theme of your wedding to send through. As these help me to understand your dream wedding, your signature style and your personality for when we talk about your custom made pieces or to help and advise which of the ready made pieces would suit you best.

Depending on the gown’s style will depend on which jewellery you choose, you may have a higher neckline and want more statement earrings and bracelet with a hairpiece at the back/side. Don’t forget your photos, as you turn your head and you would like to have a lovely hairpiece that matches and compliments your jewellery.

Also as you walk down the aisle and stand with your love, your guests will see the back and side of your head for some time and the photographer will take photos from this angle; how pretty will it look to have a hairpiece in your hair.

I always suggest that you have your jewellery and hairpieces made by the same jeweller. Buying elsewhere and trying to match just won’t work. You will see the difference, as glass just doesn’t look as beautiful as crystals. It’s like wearing two difference coloured shoes, it just doesn’t look right; and this is your wedding day and you want everything to coordinate and look beautiful.

Choose jewellery that you love, don’t get caught up in trends (remember you will look back at these photos 20 years time and you can avoid that trend). Just be yourself and you will be the most relaxed and comfortable bride, as you know you look beautiful and you will feel empowered and fabulous on your wedding day.

➳ What is your own personal favourite piece?

I have managed to narrow this down to pick three as it is so very hard to choose! Deep breath now.

The ‘Parisian Nights Earrings’ in Golden Shadow (although the Silver Clear Crystals are also gorgeous). The marquee shapes in these earrings are just stunning and I love how brides can wear these with any outfit after their wedding.

I adore a statement bracelet and this bracelet is so popular with my gorgeous brides, the ‘Sway My Way 5 strand bracelet

I can’t go past a fabulous statement ring; I wear these everyday and love seeing these on women as they just finish any outfit so perfectly. They look so fabulous on bridesmaids to complete their gown. I have so many statement rings to choose from although I do love the ‘Manhattan Nights Ring’ in Golden Shadow, it is sooooo pretty with its big Swarovski crystal teardrop.

➳ What is the best part about what you do:

Making jewellery, I am in my happy place when I am creating jewellery, what better business could I be in than making women happy? I pinch myself on a daily basis that I have the honour of making jewellery for a brides wedding. A permanent reminder of her wedding day, that she can wear her sparkling jewels for many years later to enjoy.

One of my favourite things is when a bride contacts me many years later or posts on social media with a photo and that they “still love my jewellery” and are wearing it with fond memories of their wedding day; now that is truly special, so beautiful and makes me very happy.

You can’t buy that memory, a bride’s jewellery that has created a memory and it is something that a bride will cherish. Every time you wear your jewellery you are reminded of a beautiful memory of your wedding day marrying your love, the person of your dreams.

Love is Love and True Love lasts forever….

Real Housewives of Melbourne Season 4 (part 1) – featuring Redki Couture Jewellery

When the Real Housewives of Melbourne call to wear your jewellery, its a YES of course!

To set the scene for you, I was contacted to bejewel the ladies and loan my jewellery for the Housewives for their promotional photo for Season 4 back in late May for a photoshoot in early June by the stylist.  Mmmmmm all that jewellery going to Melbourne by courier, nope, so I booked accommodation and plane tickets and packed 28kg of jewellery into a case and Mum and I shared the other suitcase packing very lightly for our 4 day adventure.  We stayed in St Kilda Beach which was just fabulous actually with all its cafes and being near the beach but oh my, coming from Brisbane warm winter to Melbourne cold, yep, glad we took our gloves and scarves.

The shoot was at ‘The George’ which is an iconic building in St Kilda, truly fabulous as weddings are held there and part of it has been turned into apartments.  I hardly slept the night before as I had so much going through my mind, did I have enough jewellery with me? I bought some of my tools with me and extra crystals to make an last minute changes of colours.  We arrived for 7am and set up, laying the jewellery out and we were ready.  The stylist had 28 looks to style on that day for the housewives and bought 35 gorgeous gowns and shoes along with other stylists to assist on the day with dressing the ladies.  It takes such a team effort to create the looks.  There were a team of makeup artists and hair stylists creating the looks downstairs and as they were ready the ladies would come up and were dressed in their gown and would come over to me so I could style their jewellery for them.

They were just the loveliest most gracious women and we enjoyed meeting them and being with them for the day.  Mum had a ball meeting them and helping me, she has been on so many of my shoots and is an amazing assistant to me, couldn’t do it without my Mum xo

The ladies we adorned on the day were Gina Liano, Janet Roach, Sally Bloomfield, Lydia Schivaello, Venus Behbahani, Jackie Gillies and Gamble Breaux.  Gamble was so much fun as you can see in the ‘behind the scenes’ photos and she is such a lovely and beautiful person. All the ladies were just lovely and so nice on the day.

Well, the photoshoot was in June and the photos are now being published in December, first in OK Magazine with Prince Harry and Meghan Markel on the cover and I must say what a gorgeous loving couple they make., this photo has the ladies in black, maroon and purple. I used neutral clear crystal jewellery with either gold or silver metals for the ladies, except for Gina’s necklace I swapped out the central crystal to match her gown and for Janet, I added a statement black necklace with a feature crystal centre piece with matching earrings and bracelet.  All the ladies had either matching earrings, necklace, bracelet and rings on and they looked beautiful.

Now I can share a secret that we have been sitting on for 6 months phew, so very proud of my jewellery being featured with the ‘Real Housewives of Melbourne’ and OK Magazine.

Dreamy Blue Beach Bride – Wedding Jewellery glistens in the sun, Redki Couture Jewellery

Drift away with this Dreamy Beach seaside beach wedding inspiration. Beautiful blues and creams is what our bride wears. Our Beautiful Beach bride with her handsome groom walk hand in hand on the beach for their wedding day. The water is glistening in the sun, the flowers smell beautiful and the beautiful wedding jewellery is sparkling. The colour scheme and theme is just lovely and it is a very romantic is the setting for this couple.

You could be anywhere in the world yet nothing beats our beautiful beaches on the sunny Gold Coast.  This was a lovely beach photo shoot that Redki – Couture Jewellery was featured in. What a tough day, hanging out at the beach for the afternoon. I know someone has to do it so it may as well be me!!!  It was fabulous enjoying sand between our toes, lovely breeze and a great team of people as we dressed, bejewelled the bride and photographed our fabulous models.

What I love about this photo shoot is the softness and dreamy tones.  The creams and dreamy blues of the fabrics that are softly blowing in the breeze and complimented with bronze and gold wedding jewellery and accessories. Such a beautiful day with the Gold Coast beach and water reflecting a brilliant blue and giving us a glorious day.

Handmade Jewellery and Hairpieces by Redki – Couture Jewellery using swarovski crystal pearls and crystals in bronze and gold. Adding glamour to make a statement by wearing our large bling ring in gold Swarovski crystals.

This crystal ring is one of my favourites as the colour golden shadow goes with a variety of gown styles and colours. It is beautiful for both brides and bridesmaids. Just by adding a matching bracelet and teardrop gold crystal earrings, the flow of colour and styling moves the eye to the pretty double strand crystal and pearl headband to complete the look.

It’s all about bringing the look together with subtle details that compliment each other.
